Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Division Hockey Championship continues in Lahore, Pakistan

Lahore: January 28, 2021: On the third day of the first Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Division Hockey Championship, Multan, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, and Sargodha divisions won their respective matches. Sahiwal beat Gujranwala Division 2-0, Sahiwal beat Dera Ghazi Khan 4-3 and Sargodha Division beat Lahore Division 4-3. Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Olakh, Secretary Punjab Olympic Association Idrees Haider Khawaja, Olympian Tauqeer Dar and others Guests watched the matches, very good competitions are taking place in the championship, players enter the field with hard work and enthusiasm.

According to details, the first Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Division Hockey Championship, played jointly by PHF and Punjab Hockey Association under the auspices of Sports Board Punjab, continued on Wednesday. The players performed well in the third day’s competitions, Multan Division. Defeated Rawalpindi Division 4-1, Faisalabad Division defeated Gujranwala Division 2-0, Sahiwal defeated Dera Ghazi Khan 4-3 and Sargodha Division defeated Lahore Division 4-3.

Talking to media on the occasion, Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Olakh said that: “There are very good competitions taking place in the championship. I am watching the matches every day, players are coming on the field with hard work and enthusiasm and are showing their full potential, building a pool of good players who will be further trained and prepared for national and international competitions, we are hopeful That good players will come out of the championship which will make hockey even better.”

In the first match, Multan Division defeated Rawalpindi Division 1-4. In the third minute, Usman Iftikhar of Multan scored on a penalty corner. In the 8th minute, Muhammad Osama scored a field goal. In the 21st minute, Muhammad Arsalan scored on a penalty corner. Kashif Sadiq scored a field goal in the 26th minute, Hamza Fayyaz of Rawalpindi scored a field goal in the 42nd minute. The match was supervised by umpires Atif Malik and Mubashir Ali while Imran was the reserve umpire. Allah Daad, Zulfiqar and Aslam Shah were the judges. Malik Shafqat performed the duties of technical officer.

In the second match, Faisalabad Division defeated Gujranwala Division 0-2. Shahbaz Ahmed scored a field goal for Faisalabad in the 32nd minute and Shahbaz Ahmed scored the second field goal in the 56th minute. The match was supervised by umpires Bensish Hayat and Zahid Hameed while Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din was the reserve umpire. Chaudhry Munawar Hussain, Mushtaq and Muhammad Pervez acted as judges while Rafiq Khan acted as technical officer.

In the third match, Sahiwal defeated Dera Ghazi Khan by 3-4 goals. DG Khan’s Taqi Al Hassan scored the first field goal in the 21st minute. DG Khan’s Noman Bukhari scored the second goal in the 33rd minute, Sahiwal’s captain Rehman Ali scored in the 36th minute, Sahiwal’s Muhammad Fazil scored in the 42nd minute, Sahiwal’s third goal in the 47th minute, 51st. Sahiwal strengthened his position on the match by scoring the fourth goal in the minute, the third goal was scored by DG Khan in the 52nd minute of the match. The match was supervised by umpires Yasir Khurshid and Mohammad Saleem while Mohammad Munir was the reserve umpire. Rao Zain, Mohammad Asif and Atif Iqbal acted as judges while Ziauddin Burki acted as technical officer.

After a thrilling competition in the fourth match, Sargodha Division defeated Lahore Division 3-4 goals. Hanan Shahid, a promising player from Al-Hoor Division, scored a hat trick to set up a hat trick. The match was supervised by umpires Waqas Butt and Mazhar while Mubashir Ali was the reserve umpire. Allah Daad, Saqib Niaz and Ali Abbas were the judges. Muhammad Yaqub performed the duties of technical officer.
