The 2018 Darwin International hockey open is set to begin from tomorrow. The event is taking place in Darwin Australia. Team Japan, Malaysia, and Argentina will partake in the tournament, besides the hosts. The Hockey Open is set to commence from the 18th till the 22nd of September. Each team in the Hockey Open plays one match against each of the remaining teams, which will be the basis for qualifying for the final.

The 2018 Darwin International Hockey Event is one of the most promising events of the calendar year and a great opportunity for Asian heavyweights Malaysia and Japan to have a good build-up to the upcoming Hero Asian Champions Trophy 2018 Muscat, scheduled in October. Continentally ranked Numbers 3 and 5 respectively, both Malaysia and Japan would be looking forward to lifting the SOMPO Cup down under.

The last teams both teams faced off was at the 18th Asian Games Final in Jakarta. After a scintillating game, that was tied at 6 goals each after 60 minutes, was won by Japan in the shoot-out.
