The AHF Congress 2019 has just come to conclusion in Gifu City, Japan. The Asian Hockey Federation now has a new President. Due to his official duties as King, His Majesty Al Sultan Abdullah Ibni Sultan Ahmad Shah did not seek re-election, and hence the position of President has been handed over to the long-serving Dato Fumio Ogura from Japan. The election of Dato Fumio Ogura is hugely beneficial to the AHF as he has close ties to the sport of hockey. Dato Fumio shares a good relationship with the members of the hockey fraternity all over the world.

“It is no easy task to fill the shoes of His Majesty King Abdullah,” admitted Dato Fumio.

Dato Manjit Majid Abdullah has now taken on the role of Vice President of the AHF. Dato Manjit, who is currently the Deputy President of the Johor Hockey Association took his first steps in the field when he was elected as secretary of the JHA in 1984.

“This is indeed not only an honor for me but for hockey in Malaysia”, said Dato Manjit.

The AHF elections were held in a cordial manner and showcased Asian solidarity as no position was contested.

We wish the best of luck to our new President as he takes on this demanding role. Together with Chief Executive Tayyab Ikram, the pair are set to brighten the future of the sport.
