Asian Hockey Federation condoles the demise of Ravinder Pal Singh, who represented India – the Gold Medal-winning side – at the 1980 Moscow Olympics. He fell victim to the COVID-19 and passed away on Saturday, 08 May 2021 in Lucknow.

 

The former centre-half of the Indian Men’s Hockey Team represented India in a number of tournaments which included the Champions Trophy in Karachi (1980, 1983), World Cup in Mumbai in 1982, Asia Cup in Karachi in 1982 and the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984.

 

Expressing the deepest condolences, President Asian Hockey Federation Dato’ Fumio Ogura said, “Legends such as Ravinder Pal are a rare occasion. Mr Singh was an avid sportsman and he will be dearly missed.”

AHF Chief Executive Dato Tayyab Ikram said, “the Asian Hockey fraternity is deeply saddened by the passing of Mr Ravinder Singh. He will always live in our hearts. My prayers and well wishes are with his family.”
