The Bangabandhu National School Hockey 2020 Competition started nationwide from Saturday, January 26, under the management of the Bangladesh Hockey Federation and sponsored by the First Security Islami Bank Limited. A total of 80 schools are participating in the tournament, at 9 venues across the country. Bangladesh Hockey Federation Vice-President and School Hockey Committee Chairman Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman announced the inauguration of the tournament at MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong at 3:00 pm. Honorable Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation and General Secretary of Chittagong District Sports Association A J M Nasir Uddin were present as the chief guests of the event. Also present were the Zonal head of First Security Islami Bank Limited, Mr. Mohammad Hafizur Rahman, Vice President of Bangladesh Hockey Federation Mr. Abdul Rashid Sikder, Mohammad Yousuf, acting general secretary of BHF and secretary of the school hockey committee and Wing Commander Mohammad Rafiqur Rahman, representative of the honorable president of Bangladesh Hockey Federation.
In the Inaugural ceremony, two fighter jets of Bangladesh Air Force participated in flypasts around the MA Aziz Stadium. In addition, students from local educational institutions participated in the colorful assembly.
