Bangladesh Hockey is organizing Walton Women’s Development Independence Cup Hockey Tournament from 14 March to 24 March 2021 at Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium Dhaka.
13 Women’s teams are to take part in this women development tournament,
Jaipurhat District;
Jhennaidah District;
Thakurgaon District;
Narail District;
Chattogram District;
Joshore District;
Rajshahi District;
Rangpur District;
Dinaj pur District BKSP;
Kishoregonj District;
Cox Bazar District; and
Mymensingh District.
All the 13 teams have been divided into 4 groups. Each group winner will qualify for the Semi-finals, which will be played on 23rd March. The final match has been scheduled to be played on 24th March 2021.
Bangladesh Hockey Federation adopted the IOC–FIH equal gender policy in order to promote and develop women hockey in the country. Muhammed Yousaf (acting Secretary-General, Bangladesh Hockey Federation) had to say that this tournament will help establish a strong women team for the FIH and AHF Women’s Hockey competitions.
