Central Asia Development Assistance Project – Road to Development 2028

This year on the International Day of Sport for Peace and Development, the Asian Hockey Federation highlights the excellent regional development initiatives and remarkable progress made in Central Asia

The Central Asia Development Assistance Project Road to Development emphasizes on the development of Hockey on a national and regional level. The NAs under the scope of this project are Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan. Kyrgyzstan has also started the hockey activities and it is a potential member National Association, soon to be a part of AHF and FIH formally.

 

The area of focus of this project is developing new infrastructure and improving hockey playing conditions, development of athletes, youth development model, enhancing women participation, technical work force, Improving the organizational structure and management of resources, strengthening hockey in Central Asia by centralizing hockey activities and creating a regional hub which was achieved by the formation of state-of-the-art new hockey stadium in Andijan Uzbekistan.

The objectives of this project include:

  • Increasing assistance for athletes and supporting NAs in their efforts to protect clean athletes
  • Focusing the regional NAs with the greatest need
  • Ensuring all funds are spent in a responsible, transparent and accountable way
  • Promoting Olympic concepts through advocacy and education
  • Supporting NAs wishing to assist other NAs in their sports development efforts
  • Developing the new stadium in Andijan Uzbekistan as the hub of Central Asia
  • Educating and developing athletes, coaches, experts and youth in the region
  • Providing facilities to professional players to train and play abroad
  • Organizing International Events
  • Providing help in Development Plan for the Region
  • Building the region in a capable capacity in the hockey world to compete in international tournaments against world class teams
  • Providing smart infrastructure for a sustainable future and preparation to participation in top tier events

 

Major Achievements garnered through this project are:

  • Installation and inauguration of the hockey pitch in Andijan, Uzbekistan.
    Successfully conducting national and regional tournaments and training camps
    Contributing to the national as well as the regional development
  • AHF Equipment Support Projects completed for Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan
  • AHF Regional and National Level Online Education Activities held for Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan. These activities included the workshops and courses for coaching, technical officiating and umpiring
