The last Women’s match of Round 1 of HWL 16 was contested between Kazakhstan and Singapore. By half time Kazakhstan had already managed to secure two goals while Singapore had a score of zero. The second half proved to be an easy feat for Kazakhstan as it scored one more goal and won the match with three goals against its competition, Singapore.

The Men’s Hockey teams of Singapore and Thailand met each other on the field to compete for the bronze medal. Both teams started off well and it proved to be a very interesting match with both teams tied at one by half time. In the second half, Singapore failed to give the performance that was expected of it in its home ground. Even though it tried its best to score a goal, it was unable to do so. Thailand on the other hand scored two goals and went on to claim a win and the Bronze Medal.

The best is always kept for the last. The final and the most anticipated match of Round 1 of the Hockey World League 2016 was the last match of the day. By the end of the second half, both teams successfully managed to do that. However, this resulted in a draw at a score of 3-3. This was resolved by a penalty shootout. The Men’s Hockey team of China outshone Sri Lanka and maintained its position of not losing any match from the start of Round 1 of HWL 16.
