Customs representative offers full support to Hockey in Karachi, Pakistan

The Collector Customs representative Saqif Saeed has offered full support to the Karachi Hockey Association for the revival of the National game in the city.

He was speaking as the Chief guest at an impressive closing ceremony of the KHA free of cost winter Boys and girls hockey coaching camp at KHA sports complex on Tuesday.

The collector said he was amazed to see a huge number of boys and girls at the camp which is an indicator to unearth budding players for the future.

He said customs, Sindh government and KHA can work together to rebuild the Pakistan Hockey Team.

The collector said customs and hockey are synonymous and the Department har produced a large number of Olympians and officials International, who have brought laurels to the country.

He said after looking at the camp he was confident that this will yield fruitful results and strengthen the base in the future.

Secretary Sports Sindh Imtiaz Ali Shah who is playing a vital role in the promotion of sports in the province highly commended the efforts of KHA under the supervision of its secretary Haider Hussain.

“I have not seen this type of assembly of players at the grass root level in any sport,” he said.
Imtiaz Ali shah assured that Sindh Government will continue to support the promotion of sports in the province.

Former Pakistan Captain Legendary Olympians Nasir Ali, Ayaz Mehmood Ahmed Alam said they were surprised to see a huge gathering of players for the first time in history.

They said the credit goes to the KHA particularly it’s Secretary Haider Hussain who has worked day in day out in the last four years.

The Collector Customs and the Secretary Sports later presented certificates and free hockey sticks to camp trainees.

It may be mentioned that the KHA has distributed free kits to all the camp trainees last week.

A large number of former players, KHA officials and Coordinator’s attended the ceremony that lasted for about 3 hours.

Prominent among them were Olympians and Internationals Hanif Khan, Danish Kaleem, Abuzar Umrao, Pervaiz Iqbal, Arif Bhopali, Khalid Paracha, Shahid ul Islam, Cheena Bahi, Secretary Youth Club, Mustafa Jamil Mumtaz Haider, Fayyaz Haider, Tasleem Usmani, Azam Khan, Imtiaz Ul Hasan, Riffat Iqbal, Arshad Siddiqui, Mehmood Ali Khan, and KHA officials Gulfaraz Ahmed Khan, and S A Majid Mohsin Ali Khan.
