Day Five Results: 11th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2021, Simdega, Jharkhand

~ Hockey Jharkhand, Hockey Haryana, Hockey Maharashtra, Hockey Karnataka and Hockey Punjab win their respective matches ~

 

Day five at the 11th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2021 saw some intensely fought matches as teams vied to book their place in the quarter finals here on Sunday.

In the opening match of the day, Hockey Jharkhand beat Kerala Hockey by 10-0. Goals were scored by Deepika Soreng (3′, 41′), Rajni Kerketta (10′, 35′, 37′), Elin Dungdung (11′), Mahima Tete (29′, 38′, 46′) and Amrita Minj (47′). Kerala Hockey, on the other hand, could not beat the hosts defence to score a single goal.

In another one-sided match today, Hockey Haryana beat Assam Hockey by a massive 23-0 goal difference in their pool B encounter. The goal-scorers for Hockey Haryana were Preeti (4′, 8′, 25′, 29′, 32, 41′, 50′, 58′), Seema (15′, 17′, 38′, 46′, 50′, 54′), Preeti (28′ 53’) Monu (18′, 43′), Neelam (22′, 47′), Manju (45′), Pinki (57′), Manita (60′).

In another Pool E encounter, Hockey Maharashtra beat Delhi Hockey 6-1. Even though Delhi Hockey opened the scoring by Manshi’s 2nd minute goal, Delhi Hockey couldn’t come up with a good defensive structure to stop the Hockey Maharashtra players from scoring back-to-back goals. It was Himanshi Gawande (25′), Pradnya Jalindar Bhosale (30′), Captain Manashri Narendra Shedage (45′), Ashwini Kolekar (46′) and Kajal Sadashiv Atpadkar (53′, 58′) who scored in Hockey Maharashtra’s big win.

Hockey Karnataka continued to impress in the tournament as they secured another big win in their Pool H match. They beat Le Puducherry Hockey 12-1 to keep their hopes alive to make the quarterfinals. Shaya Kaveramma BA (7′), Jahnavi HS (11′, 29′, 38′), Dechamma Ganapathi P (12′, 24′, 45′), Captain SP Likitha (14′), Adira S (21′, 59′), Chandana J (47′), Kavya G (54′) scored in Hockey Karnataka’s win. While Captain Subasri was the lone goal scorer for Le Puducherry Hockey.

In another Pool H match, Hockey Punjab outclassed Hockey Bengal 5-0. Goals were scored by Kanta Devi (4′), Pawandeep Kaur (17′), Captain Harpreet Kaur (45′, 49′) and Navneet Kaur (52′). With this win, Hockey Punjab stand a strong chance to make the knockouts.
