From the 5th to the 12th December, the city of Donghae is hosting the Donghae Women’s Asian Champions Trophy, in which top six Women’s Hockey Teams from Asia are competing for the title.

The Donghae Women’s Asian Champions Trophy is being held from the 5th to the 12th December at the Donghae Sunrise International Hockey Stadium in the Donghae Well-Being Leports Town.

Hosted by the Korea Hockey Association, the event is allocated by the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF), and co-hosted by the Donghae City Hockey Association. This competition was initially scheduled to be participated by the 6 Women’s Hockey Teams from Asia namely Korea, China, Japan, India, Malaysia, and Thailand. However, Malaysia has now resigned due to COVID related complications.

The tournament is a full-league format; with the new schedule published recently after Malaysia’s withdrawal from the event, the matches are being held twice a day. There is a full-day break with no matches on 7th and 10th December.

Due to the impact of COVID-19, the opening ceremony and the team welcome reception is omitted and the tournament is being held very simply and with the strict observance of the COVID related SOPs.

Donghae City owns two Sunrise International Hockey Fields. The fields having received the Global Elite certification – the highest level recognized internationally – completed a final inspection of its facilities prior to the competition.
