The FIH-AHF Raja Ashman Shah Hockey Academy has become a central figure in the Asian Hockey Federation’s plans of the future. With having conducted numerous coaching, umpiring and other courses under the Ashman Shah umbrella, the initiative has become incredibly important for hockey’s development within Asia. It has also achieved much success and praise from different stakeholders and is on course to preparing a new generation of hockey facilitators to take the game to the next level.
In accordance with the AHF’s current theme, a roadside show was conducted in Pengkalan Hulu, Hilir Perak on the 23rd of November, 2018. The location was located around 200kms away from the Ipoh City, that plays as host to the infamous Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament. Like usual, there was a significant interest in the event as close to 80 participants were associated with the Hockey Roadside show.
According to the IOC’s aim of development initiatives, both boys and girls participated actively during the event. Young students were indulged in major exercises such as how to run with the ball, how to correctly hold the stick, introductory lecture on the rules of the game and how to ensure safety during active gameplay, to name a few.
These 80 participants were students, teachers and officials who attended the event. The feedback was incredibly positive as they praised the initiatives held under Raja Ashman banner that they found to not only be learning oriented, efficient and a unique experience, but also associated the event to bring the hockey community’s fraternity closer.
