Hockey 2024 & Sticks4TheWorld: A Way Forward

The FIH’s 46th Congress, attended by more than 250 delegates from across the globe, provided a strategic vision and direction for the future to be followed by the hockey fraternity. The Hockey 2024 vision, a new development strategy tabled, provided an insight as to how the global promotion and development of the sport of hockey.

The AHF, keeping in-line with the theme and the decision making set at the FIH Congress, has and plans to further the development of hockey within Asia, keeping the stringent promotion of the sport at the heart of its digital vision that also includes events organized and facilitated by the AHF.

The strategic decision-making of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics was also put in motion. One such outreach to the strategy was the ‘Sticks4TheWorld’ project, with the aim to provide to distribute 110,000 hockey sticks to new and existing Hockey4Life projects by the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The FIH Congress also welcomed Mr. Shahbaz Ahmed, former Pakistan Olympian, to the FIH as the new Executive Board Member. He was joined by Elizabeth Safoa King of Ghana as the newcomers to the Board. In addition to Shahbaz and Elizabeth, Michael Green of Germany and Maureen Craig-Rousseau of Trinidad & Tobago were re-elected to the FIH Executive Board.
