Hong Kong China goes all in

Hong Kong China put their foot on the accelerator and do not intend to slow down, already in their second match in this qualifying tournament, they won again, in this case against Uzbekistan, who just today started their way in this Women’s Asian Games Qualifier.

Hong Kong China (WR:40) faced Uzbekistan (WR: 64), the team coached by Arifali came with all the confidence to show again an impressive performance as they had done yesterday against Cambodia. On their side Uzbekistan started their participation and wanted to show that they were also up to the task trying to get a positive result to dream with the first places of this qualifier for the Asian Games.

Just 6 minutes into the match, HKC got a penalty corner that was executed in an exceptional way by Evelyn Cheung shooting it against the goalkeeper’s left post.

With the 1-0 lead Uzbekistan tried to make the difference as soon as possible but the defensive wall of Hong Kong China did not let any ball stay long in the box.

Although both teams had chances, HKC was superior throughout most of the match, and in the 36th minute managed to extend the difference through another penalty corner almost twin of the previous one (this time to the goalkeeper’s right post) converted again by Evelyn Cheung.

The team coached by Liliya Mutalapova tried to break HKC’s defense but it was very difficult to do so, especially on the sides where there was always a player in blue trying to cover the pass. After a bad start by the players in white, HKC managed to recover the ball to make a pass to Pui Sze Lau who was alone in the circle and with a sweep managed to get around the goalkeeper and put her team 3-0.

Uzbekistan did not want to be left behind trying to enter the area from below and also from above with long flick, but in the 57th minute again Evelyn Cheung crowned her hat-trick and defined the match by 4-0 for the blue team.

The best player of the match was undoubtedly Evelyn Cheung the author of the 3 goals that left Hong Kong China at the top of the standings with their second consecutive victory.

Hong Kong China will play on June 9th against Sri Lanka and on the other side Uzbekistan will play their second match against Kazakhstan tomorrow June 8th in the first match of the day.
