The National Youth Squad that will leave for Perth on April 4 (Tuesday) will go through six friendly matches before returning to Malaysia on April 15, 2023 and through the list of 21 players brought, two of them are goalkeepers, seven defenders, six players in the central position and six attackers.

The Head Coach of the National Men’s Youth Squad, Muhamad Amin Rahim, explained that the players brought to Perth are the players who have shown the best performance during the recent TNB Malaysia Hockey League competition.

“Apart from the players who have played with the Young Tigers, there are also new faces brought to Perth and the opportunity given to them is for us as a coaching staff to assess their ability to perform at the highest level.

“For the Friendly Tour Series this time, we will be playing Senior Clubs in Australia and when playing against a club that is mostly senior players, of course the quality and tempo of the game will be different.

“The speed of thinking and physical speed will also be the team’s bet in the friendly action where it is good enough to prepare the players to be fully prepared ahead of two important tournaments (SEA Games and Asian Youth Cup 2023).

“In addition, in this friendly action I also want to see the ability of the players to perform in high pressure situations and as everyone knows, Australia is one of the best teams in the world.

“I also hope for the players who have been given this opportunity to take it and use it as best as possible in addition to learning to perform in matches with high tempo and high pressure because the team will face two quite important tournaments,” he explained.
