India and Belgium square off in Men’s FIH Pro league 2020

India and Belgium played out the 27th match of the Men’s FIH Pro league 2020. So far it has been a thrilling league filled with goals. Belgium were the favorites for the match as they are currently ranked 1st in the FIH World rankings. However, India was ready for the challenge with a good showing in their last matches.

 

The match was played in Kalinga Stadium, India on 8th Feb 2020. The match kicked off with an instant impact as India took the lead in the 2nd minute courtesy of a good strike from Mandeep Singh. The first half was filled with Belgian shots on goal as India were playing a defensive formation to play on the counter. The first half ended 1-0 in favor of India.

 

There was another quick goal at the start of the second half with Belgium equalizing through a penalty corner, Gauthier Boccard was the Goal scorer. The match continued with Belgium looking to take the lead with a number of attacks. India regained the lead against the run of play with a penalty corner in the 46’ minute. It was an exciting end to the match with a number of chances for both teams. Eventually India were the victors with a 2-1 win over Belgium.

 

India and Belgium will play a second match on Sunday 9th Feb 2020.
