The hosts have all to play for in front of their home fans at the prestigious GBK Stadium, Jakarta. Indonesia opens their campaign against the mighty Indian Eves in the women category, which might as well be the biggest challenge for them at the Asian Games.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Indonesian hockey Technical Directory Lim Chiow Chuan, said “The players are naturally excited and eagerly waiting to play. They will be playing in the biggest stage of their hockey career in front of their friends and families. “

It is indeed a big moment for Indonesian hockey as this is the biggest stage they get to take on teams who are amongst the best in the world.

“The spirit of the young athletes remains boosted and we will try our best to offer strong competition for our opponents,” added the Malaysian who started his campaign with Indonesia in February earlier this year.

On playing against India, he said “It can build you or destroy you. We are hoping for the former. It’s a great opportunity for the team to play India, an awesome team in my opinion”. He furthered his comments, “We have to minimize defensive errors against their formidable attacks and be really good in penalty corners defensively.”

Players to look out for in the squads will be Sadli Septiansyah (M) and Olevia Kbarek (W)
