Rawalpindi: November 14, 20: National Hockey Championship: Traditional rival National Bank, Sui Southern Gas match after a thrilling contest, Punjab, Army Koltardala, Wapda, Mari Petroleum and Navy won their matches, Pakistan Air Force, Police and Port Qasim face defeat, Haroon Rasheed and Waqas Butt’s excellent umpiring manages to grab spectators’ attention

Five matches were played on the seventh day of the National Senior Hockey Championship 2020 under the auspices of Pakistan Hockey Federation. Former Secretary PHF Olympian Rana Mujahid Ali was also present.

Event Hosted by Mari Petroleum Company Mari Petroleum Astroturf Hockey Stadium Ayub Park Rawalpindi to supervise the ongoing PHF Premier Domestic Event has been assigned the responsibilities of Tournament Director by Pakistan Hockey Federation while Syed Akhtar Chaudhry Dr. Ahsan Tanveer and Mohammad Yaseen have been appointed as Assistant Tournament Directors. Rashid Butt, International Umpires Manager has been appointed as the Umpire Manager of the event while Rana Khalid Iqbal and Mohsin Ali are performing the duties of Assistant Umpires Manager.

The first match of the seventh day of the event was played between Mari Petroleum and Port Qasim in which Mari Petroleum defeated Port Qasim 2-4. Umair, Wasim, Owais and Arbaaz scored one goal each for Mari Petroleum. Abuzar and Taha scored for Port Qasim. The match was supervised by umpires Sohail Akram Janjua and Amir Hamza while Mubashir was the reserve umpire. Judges Muhammad Yaqub and Javed Sadiq while Haroon performed his professional duties as a technical officer.

The second match was played between Mari Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Police. Which Pakistan Navy won 1-7. Ali Sher scored two, Hammad two, Mohammad Sawir two and Haris one for Pakistan Navy while Mohsin scored the only goal for Pakistan Police. The match was supervised by umpires Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din and Mazhar. While Hamza was the reserve empire. The judges were Javed Sadiq and Shafqat Malik while Shahid Rabbani performed his professional duties as a technical officer.

The third match was played between Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Wapda which was won by Pakistan Wapda 0-1. Salman Razzaq scored the only goal for Pakistan WAPDA. The match was supervised by umpires Yasir Khurshid and Mahmood Ali while Ghulam Mazhar was the reserve umpire. The judges were Shahid Rabbani and Haroon Saeed while Mohammad Yaqub performed his professional duties as a technical officer.

The fourth match of the unit was played between Pakistan Army and Punjab which Punjab won 2-3 after a thrilling contest. The experienced team of Pakistan Army was danced by the young team of Punjab. Punjab center forward Owais-ur-Rehman got two chances to score in the opening moments of the match which the Punjab team could not take advantage of. On the other hand, the Pakistan Army showed great variety on the penalty corner and after losing one penalty corner, they managed to score on the other penalty corner. Owais-ur-Rehman scored two goals while Hanan scored one goal for Punjab. Ali Haider and Mohammad Afzal scored one goal each for Pakistan Army. The match was supervised by umpires Sabteen and Faisal Siam while Yasir Khurshid was the reserve umpire. Shafqat Malik and Zahid acted as judges while Hamza Tufail performed his professional duties as a technical officer.

Today’s fifth and most exciting match was played between National Bank of Pakistan and Sui Southern. Which was tied at 0-0. Both the teams playing in the final of the 65th Air Marshal Noor Khan Memorial National Hockey Championship played well to humiliate their opponents. Both the teams played a brilliant and lively game. Pride of Performance Olympian Tahir Zaman coached the National Bank while Rana Zaheer Ahmed Babar, the current coach of Pakistan Hockey Team, was coaching Sui Southern Gas. The professional coaching, sports skills and the strongest teams in the event kept the hockey fans captivated by the excellent performance. The best umpiring in the best match was also demonstrated. The match was supervised by international umpires Haroon Rashid and Waqas Butt. In this beautiful match of the national game, the atmosphere of competition was established and the standard of umpiring was also appreciated by the hockey fans. The umpires with a credible reputation in the PHF’s umpires panel showed their professionalism in today’s match and won the admiration of the spectators. The highlight of the match was that not a single penalty card was awarded to the players. The reserve umpire of today’s match was Mahmood Ali. Judges Mohammad Yaqub, Zahid and Saqib Niaz while Ali Abbas performed his professional duties as a technical officer.
