The Pakistan Hockey Federation has announced a national five-a-side hockey training camp for 25 players after two days of trials. PHF has appointed Olympian Rehan Butt as the head coach of the national five-a-side hockey team, while Olympian Waqas Sharif will carry out his professional duties as a coach. Under the auspices of PHF, National Five-A-Side Hockey Training Camp will be held from April 10 to April 28th 2022 at Johar Town Hockey Stadium, Lahore.

The five-a-side national hockey training camp aims at finding new talents in the nation. The other aspect of the camp is for the coaches to observe techniques and break bad habits. Often times it is difficult to pinpoint shortcomings in a group setting as other players can balance out these defects. So, having one of our highly trained coaches observe them, can ensure they aren’t in need of constant assists in any one given area, but are actually a powerhouse on all levels. Aims of the camp also inludes building muscular strength of players, improving coordination and balance, improve breathing, build teamwork, boost endurance and enhances mental strength.

At the end of the camp, Pakistan five-a-side hockey team will be formed which will participate in the International Five A Side Hockey Tournament to be held in Lausanne, Switzerland in June.
