Maico Casella was the best scored with five goals for Argentina in a dominating 14-1 victory over Peru. Jose Tolini had three goals, while Peru capitalized on a penalty corner taken by Rodrigo Diaz Espinosa to erase the shutout. As anticipated Argentina coast their way to the semifinal where they will play against the USA. The Leones have been in every final since 1967 winning nine of the 13 appearances including the last two.

An exciting quarter-final matchup between USA and Cuba resulted in a 5-1 result for the Americans. It was an end to end in the second half but an opening goal from USA veteran Pat Harris and two from Deegan Huisman was too much for Cuba. The losers will now go to the 5-6th place against Peru. Meanwhile USA advance to the semifinals and will play Argentina who has allowed just two goals this tournament.

An uneventful opening quarter between Chile and Mexico was due to the gritty defense in both circles. Jose Hernandez in goal for Mexico fielded more of the attack then Chile’s Adrian Henriquez but neither were really called to test until the second quarter. Chile will now play its semifinal versus Canada on August 8.

A goal from Brenden Bissett in the fourth quarter was the breath Canada needed to win the game 5-1 after leading by just one goal for 37 minutes of the game. Scott Tupper scored two in the win that books Canada a spot in the semifinals. The emotions were high but Canada ultimately achieved their goal and the 5-1 victory secured their spot in the semifinals.
