Three teams participated in the inter provincial tournament which was held in Khust Afghanistan. The tournament led to the selection of the Afghanistan National Hockey Team for the upcoming regional tournaments. The president of Afghanistan Hockey Federation (AFGHF), Mustafa Saadat presented the trophies to the participants and teams. Provincial sports officials and enthusiasts also attended the proceedings.

AFGHF, under a new management, is keen to rejuvenate and ignite the hockey spirit in Afghanistan and take it to new heights. AHF, under its Development and Education Program, provides continuous equipment support to the federation, and envisages to continue the extension of its support to promising National Associations in order to develop and strengthen hockey activities across the region.

AHF’s Regional Development Officer, Zahid Ali said, “It is extremely positive to see the enthusiasm of Federations and hockey professionals alike. Developing countries, in terms of hockey activities, specifically Afghanistan, have shown a keen interest and eagerness to develop the sporting culture in their countries in order to participate in regional and global events. AHF will continue to provide its support to its affiliated National Associations in order to unlock the untapped potential of this region”.

About the AHF Development and Education Program 2018

The Asian Hockey Federation aims to assist the technical staff with the AHF Development and Education Program 2018. The development activities in training coaches, umpires and technical officials are progressing faster than ever with more and more Asian federations taking productive participation in the courses.

The courses are designed to combine experienced people to present the methods to play, coach, officiate and manage the sport of hockey. The participants are exposed to the best strategies and protocols to manage teams and high-level tournaments. The courses are divided into 4 levels: Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Umpiring and Coaching along with High Performance. To move through the ranks of coaching, umpiring and technical officials a participant must successfully complete each level.

The aim of the AHF Education and Development Program 2018 is to provide a simplified education structure and resources for AHF Members Nations. All nations will have the opportunity to access the program pathway at an appropriate level.
