Second AHF Executive Board Meeting concluded successfully

The Second AHF Executive Board Meeting 2020 took place earlier today. In consideration of the global pandemic situation, the Executive Board meeting was held online.

The meeting was a huge success and saw 100% participation. The meeting saw active participation and updates shared by Executive Board Members of their respective regions.

There was a wide variety of topics covered in the meeting, which included Review of AHF Events, Welcoming Saudi Arabia & Timor Leste as new members, Hockey Activities Parallel to COVID-19, Tokyo Olympic Games Preparations Review, AHF Pitch Project, Equipment Support Updates, AHF Online Engagement & Education Updates and Asian Games 2022 Hangzhou Preparations Review.

An important event review took place and positive updates on the planning of events taking place in 2021 were given.

During the Executive Board Meeting, it was descriptively presented that 26 Countries were able to bring Hockey Back to the Pitch.

The Online Education Activities showed that 150 online courses have been offered to more than 4200+ Participants.

The Progress of the 2020-21 AHF Pitch Project was highlighted. Potential candidate country applications were also tabled. A complete set of activities that have taken place at the AHF Polytan Hockey Pitch in Andijan Uzbekistan and the activities in the Philippines at the AHF Donated Indoor Hockey Pitch were also elaborated.

Furthermore; even in such difficult times, the Asian Hockey Federation has allocated Special Equipment Support to 90% of Member National Associations. Massive Equipment Support has been provided to help developing nations where they are not receiving full government support.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games saw extremely positive updates for the upcoming mega event and it was certainly pleasing and assuring to see that all preparations are moving forward as planned.

Very positive news regarding the Hangzhou Asian Games 2022 was also shared, which saw updates specific to Hockey as well as the event in general and the speed of the progress.

The ever increasing numbers along with detailed insights were presented to the Executive Board about the Social Media & Website. The online engagement was also reviewed.

The details on the successful completion of Olympic Solidarity 2017-2020 were also highlighted.

Among the highlighted details a lot more information was shared.

On the occasion, AHF President Dato Fumio Ogura had this to say: “Another successful Executive Board meeting comes to an end. It is encouraging to see such progress being made across the fields of Education, Development, Communication, Event Planning, and Equipment Support, even during these difficult times. I am grateful to Dato Tayyab and his team for their hard work and dedication to the sport of hockey.”

AHF Chief Executive, Dato Tayyab Ikram, said: “We stand more consolidated than ever with this second Executive Board Meeting which provided important updates to our Executive Board Members. We are thankful to all our Executive Board Members for providing their invaluable updates and information from their countries and regions. We are looking forward to our final meeting later this year. I am grateful the Asian Hockey Family has worked so diligently in the face of a global crisis in order to keep the spirit of hockey alive and bringing hockey back to the pitch. The COVID-19 challenge is to be overcome, we must learn to live with it and it will not be a reason for AHF to stop moving forward.”
