Singapore Umpiring circle 2022

Back

With the opening of borders the SHF were able to bring Ged Curran to Singapore. Ged is a current FIH Pro League Umpires Manager and is appointed in 2022 to the FIH Women’s World Cup.

He is in town to deliver the pre-season Umpires Circle, to advise on umpiring matters and to coach young umpires.

Its the hope of the Umpires Committee that young umpires would be able to benefit from his experience and understanding of the game.

Ged is no stranger to Singapore and was last here in 2019. He remains impressed with the level of officiating in Singapore and had this to say:

“For Singapore being a small playing nation to have two umpires at the top FIH level umpiring at Olympic Games 2016 and 2020 and World Cups in 2022 and 2023, is such an incredible feat and achievement, and for younger umpires aspiring to achieve the same, they need go no further than look at roles models such as Cookie Tan and Lim Hong Zhen”

Singapore Hockey posted pictures on their Facebook page of Ged giving lecture to the young umpires and wrote: –

“First in person Umpires Circle for 2 years. Thank u Ged Curran”
