Singapore booked a place in the Junior Asia Cup when they defeated Chinese Taipei 4-0 in the Air Asia Women’s Junior Asia Cup Qualifiers at the Sengkang Hockey Stadium in Singapore.

With the two top teams assured of a place in the Junior Asia Cup in Japan in April 2020, Singapore who garnered 12 points from four wins

At the start of play for the day, Singapore were sitting pretty in the top of the pool standings as a result of three wins with as many matches.

And Chinese Taipei were in second spot with seven points, from two wins and a 2-2 draw against Uzbekistan in the last match on Thursday.

A win would give Singapore unassailable 12 points while Chinese Taipei needed a draw at least going into the final pool matches in Sunday.

Chinese Taipei started well and were the early aggressors, forcing two penalty corners but to no avail.

After absorbing the early pressure, Singapore managed to get their act together but they too failed to make good the three penalty corners they were awarded.

Singapore finally made good their fourth penalty corner with skipper Hajaratih Johana putting the final touches on a well worked set piece in the 24th minute.

Three minutes into the third quarter and Singapore were 2-0 up, this time with Shubhaa Manimaran making good a turnover from the right.

After Chinese Taipei had a goal disallowed, Singapore made most of the reprieve to score their third goal through Hajaratih in the 40th minute.

And she completed her hat trick with the third, and Singapore’s fourth in the 58th  minute.
