Lahore, Pakistan – February 9, 2021: Sports Board Punjab’s first Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Division Hockey Championship was won by Faisalabad Division. In the final, Faisalabad Division defeated Lahore Division 4-0. They strengthened their position by scoring two goals which was maintained till the end of the game. The team of the Lahore Division was second and the team of the Bahawalpur Division was third. Rs. 300,000 were awarded to the winning team and Rs. 200,000 were awarded to the runner up. The team of Bahawalpur Division who got the third position was given a prize of Rs. 100,000. The best goalkeeper award was taken by Hamza Shahbaz of Faisalabad. Rs. 25,000 cash was given. He was also given a prize of Rs 25,000. The man of the match was Ali Raza. Hannan Shahid was awarded the Top Scorer and Best Player of the Tournament.
The final of the first Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Division Hockey Championship organized by the Sports Board Punjab was played between the teams of Faisalabad Division and Lahore Division on Tuesday at the National Hockey Stadium. Faisalabad Division team consolidated its position by scoring 2 goals against the Lahore Division at the beginning of the game. The first goal was scored by Ghulam Mujtaba and the second goal was scored by Muhammad Sajid. He strengthened his position by scoring the third goal. The third goal and the fourth goal were scored by Muhammad Usman. The Lahore Division team also played a good game but luck did not support them. In the last moments of the match, the Faisalabad team scored the fourth goal and became the champion.
Provincial Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Teymour Khan Bhatti presented the Champion Trophy, Rs. 3 lakh and gold medals to the Faisalabad Division team. Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Fawad Hashim Rabbani awarded silver to the team of Lahore Division and Secretary Pakistan Hockey Federation Asif Bajwa awarded bronze medals to the team of Bahawalpur Division.
