The Asian Hockey Family and the Asian Hockey Leadership Offers its Condolences on the Passing Away of Mr. Motiullah Khan

The Asian Hockey Federation today mourns the passing away of Mr. Motiullah Khan, who was a hockey legend from Pakistan. He passed away on Friday, 12 August 2022.

Mr Motiullah Khan represented Pakistan in three Olympic Games and one Asian Games. He services for hockey were acknowledged by Pakistan in the shape of Tamgha-i-Imtiaz awarded to him in 1963. A hockey stadium in Bahawalpur (district in Pakistan) is named after him. Mr Khan spent his entire life playing and promoting hockey.

Offering words of condolence for the bereaved family, President AHF Fumio Ogura said: “It is very saddening to learn of this loss. I pray for the departed and also that his family find solace in this tough time. May the departed soul rest in peace. Mr Motiullah Khan is as a role-model for our athletes.”

Expressing his grief, AHF Chief Executive & Secretary General, Dato Tayyab Ikram said: “This is indeed sad news. I pray that the departed soul finds peace, and that his family and friends can find the courage to cope with this immense loss. His demise is indeed a loss to hockey as his services are a true legacy. The Asian Hockey Family extends its condolences.”
