The Asian Hockey Family Mourns the Sad Demise of Legendary Pakistani Olympian Manzoor Hussain Junior

The Asian Hockey Family today mourns the passing away of Mr. Manzoor Hussain Junior, who was a complete hockey player, Olympian and who also held many important positions in the hockey circuit in Pakistan. He passed away on Monday, 29 August 2022.

Mr Manzoor was a two-times Olympian with a Gold in 1984 Los Angeles and Bronze in 1976 Montreal. He played three world cups, winning two Gold and one Silver. Mr Manzoor was a greatly celebrated athlete in Pakistan. He also served in multiple administrative roles in Pakistan Hockey Federation.

Offering words of condolence for the bereaved family, President AHF Fumio Ogura said: “It is very saddening to learn of this loss. I will pray for the departed and also that his family find solace in this tough time.”

Expressing his grief over the matter, AHF Chief Executive & Secretary General, Dato Tayyab Ikram said: “It in an immensely saddening news for me. I have always been an admirer of Mr Manzoor’s contribution and services for hockey. Indeed, the hockey family has lost an asset today and it is a great loss for the Asian Hockey Family. I pray that the departed soul finds peace, and that his family and friends can find the courage to cope with this immense loss.”
