It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sad passing of Ms. Annabel Pennefather, an esteemed personality in world hockey. Ms. Annabel was currently the President of the Judicial Commission of the International Hockey Federation. Annabel was a past President of the Singapore Hockey Federation. Annabel was President from 2004 to 2012, and during her term brought the Men’s Junior World Cup to Singapore in 2009.

She also played a key part in securing Sengkang as the new Home of Hockey and oversaw the transition from Delta Stadium to Sengkang.

Annabel was an outstanding individual by any measure. Having become the Vice President of Singapore National Olympic Council in 2006, she was the first woman ever to be elected to that position. She had previously also served as the Vice President of both the Asian Hockey Federation and the International Hockey Federation.

As a hockey player herself, she lent her talents as the Captain of the national team and played for Girls Sports Club and Singapore Cricket Club.

The Hockey Family is deeply grieved by this loss and the Asian Hockey Federation would like to convey our deepest condolences to her family.
