The third Chief of Naval Staff All Pakistan Hockey Tournament under the auspices of Naval Sports Directorate will be played at Abdul Sattar Hockey Stadium Karachi from September 21 to 28. Eight teams in the PHF rankings will participate in the event. The Port Qasim Authority, ranked 9th in the PHF rankings, has been given the opportunity to participate in the event after the PHF did not confirm the participation of the Sui Southern Gas team in the event. Defending champions National Bank will defend their title – the event was marked by the appointment of technical officials and umpires by the Pakistan Hockey Federation after a minor reshuffle.
According to details, the third Chief of Naval Staff Cup under the auspices of Naval Sports Directorate will be played in Karachi with all its members from September 21 to 28. The event’s defending champion team, the National Bank, is committed to defending its title. The top eight teams in the PHF rankings from the Pakistan Hockey Federation will participate in the event. The Port Qasim Authority Hockey Team has been given an opportunity to participate in the event as the participation of Sui Southern Gas Hockey Team has not been confirmed till the stipulated date. Sui Southern Gas, the third-ranked team in the PHF rankings, will be replaced by the ninth-ranked team, Port Qasim, who will now take the field for the title in the event.
A large number of Olympians, international and national senior and junior athletes will showcase their talents on the field in this magnificent event of the National Games in the city of lights, Karachi. A panel of technical officials and umpires appointed by the Pakistan Hockey Federation to bring the event in line with the rules of the International Hockey Federation re-posted with minor modifications. Olympian Nasir Ali will be the tournament director while Lieutenant Commanders Khurram Khan, Aslam Khan Niazi (Hyderabad) and Javed Iqbal (Karachi) have been appointed as assistant tournament directors.
Among the tournament officers are Mubashir Mukhtar (HBL), Dr. SA Majid (Karachi), Dr. Abdul Rasool Januri (Dadu), Murtaza Dhot (Khairpur), Ghulam Mustafa (Hyderabad), Asim Khan (Karachi), Zahid Mahmood (Karachi), Anis Kayani (Karachi), Wakiluddin Qazi (Karachi), Tariq Khan (Karachi), Syed Asad Zaheer (Karachi) and Muzammil Hussain (Karachi). Masood-ur-Rehman (Karachi) will be the umpires’ manager while Mohsin Ali Khan (Karachi) will be the assistant umpires’ manager), Yasir Khurshid (Lahore), Mubashir Ali (SBP), Abdul Manan (Hyderabad), Zahid Ali (Larkana), Sajid Hussain (Army), Waqas Butt (WAPDA), Mazhar Wasim (Nankana), Irfan Ali Dhot (Khairpur). Haider Hussain has been appointed as the event coordinator by the Pakistan Hockey Federation, while players from Pakistan Customs and former Youth Olympics hockey coach Muhammad Ali Khan will perform their professional duties as media coordinator at the event.
Tournament Director Olympian Nasir Ali will preside over the Abdul Sattar Edhi Hockey Stadium Karachi on September 20 at 3:00 pm while Managers, Coaches Meeting will be held at 4:00 pm
