THT 4 MAYBANK 2

THT continued to chase the top position in the league when they beat Maybank 4-2, in the TNB Malaysia Hockey League (Premier) 2021 action which took place at the Bukit Jalil National Hockey Stadium.

Maybank’s defeat was the first for those who came down to the court as the leader with nine points while THT, jumped to third place in the League, just one point behind leaders UniKL and TNB, thanks to the contribution of two field goals each through Is Abu and Mohamad Akhimullah Anuar Esook.

Despite slipping from the top, Maybank is still in the best position to chase a slot into the semi -finals of the TNB Cup which offers four slots for the top four teams in the league.

Mohamad Akhimullah’s two field goals in the 27th and 47th minutes and added two more by Is Abu in the 10th and 52nd minutes gave THT an absolute victory despite receiving stiff opposition from Maybank in the third quarter when both teams were tied 2-2.

Maybank initially looked like they could compete against the East Coast giants but the two goals scored by Maybank’s top scorer, Muhammad Najmi Farizal in the eighth and 41st minutes failed to give them an advantage.

THT on the other hand bounced back through its dominance of movement and fast -paced play that put pressure on Maybank in the fourth quarter.

TNB 5 SABAH 0

Muhammad Shahril Saabah increased the number of personal goals when he once again found the target to lead TNB by recording a comfortable 5-0 victory over Sabah, thus sharing the top position in the League with the leaders of UniKL with 10 points.

The number of goals is the difference between UniKL which collected 19 compared to TNB’s 15 goals.

TNB started the winning streak through Syed Mohd Syafiq Syed Cholan’s corner penalty goal just two minutes after the match started before Muhammad Shahril’s blast from a corner penalty shot paid off in the 16th minute.

The second half saw Muhammad Aminuddin Mohd Zain make his name as the scorer through a two-goal corner penalty shot each through a field goal by Muhammad Azrai Aizad Abu Kamal in the 51st minute and Norsyafiq Sumantri in the 57th minute giving TNB three absolute points.

The tough meeting against Maybank will be the biggest challenge for TNB which will definitely expect their trio of scorers Muhammad Shahril, Mohd Aminuddin and Muhammad Azrai to continue to excel.

UniKL -11 NURINSAFI HT/Sports -0

Muhammad Razie Abd Rahim and Faridzul Afiq Muhammad each excelled with a hat-trick to help UniKL with a big 11-0 win over Nurinsafi HT/Sports.

Razie Rahim’s hat-trick as early as the fifth minute and followed in the ninth and 57th minutes boosted his status as the second highest scorer in the league behind Faizal Saari (THT) by collecting a total of 6 personal goals so far after four matches.

Faridzul also made a name for himself as a hat-trick scorer through goals in the 24th, 45th and 55th minutes which placed him as one of the top five scorers so far.

Apparently, UniKL is not the rival of Nurinsafi HT/Sports when it failed to curb the onslaught of the defending champions who not only wanted to ensure three full points, but were looking for a big goal (19 goals in total so far) to prepare for the next challenge.

Goals by Izwan Firdaus Ahmad Tajuddin (24th minute), Tengku Ahmad Tajuddin Abdul Jalil (33rd minute), Pavandip Singh (35th minute), Nur Rahul Hrsikesa Thaichana Murthi (37th minute) and Muhamad Hafiz Zainol in the minute the 39th completes UniKL’s “goal feast” tonight.

UiTM HA – 3 TNB Thunderbolts – 2

UITM HA recorded their second victory when they beat TNB Thunderbolts 3-2 in a fierce match tonight.

Danial Asyraf Abdul Ghani became the hero of UITM HA when he scored the winning goal in the 54th minute after both teams were tied 2-2 while maintaining the fifth position in the league so far.

After UITM HA’s early goal by Khairul Naim Johari in the 10th minute, the Thunderbolts were in front through Muhammad Fahmi and Mohamad Hazim in the first half.

The Thunderbolts, who are currently ranked sixth, face tough opponents THT while UITM HA must be at their best against UniKL this Sunday.
