UniKL 4 THT 2

Two national penalty corner specialist goals, Muhammad Razie Abd Rahim in the first and second quarters helped to defend champions UniKL gain full points by beating main challenger Terengganu Hockey Team (THT) 4-2 in the second match of TNB Malaysia Hockey League 2021 at the Malaysia Hockey National Stadium at the Bukit Jalil Stadium.

Razie Rahim’s early goal in the 13th minute paved the way for UniKL to add goals besides successfully blocking THT’s movement and attempts.

Pavandip Singh also made his name as the scorer through a deflection from a penalty corner in the 27th minute, thus increasing UniKL’s confidence to continue to control the tempo of the match.

MAYBANK 1 UiTM 0

In another match, Maybank topped the League standings after grabbing their second win over UiTM HA 1-0.

Maybank is currently collecting a maximum of six points and with a more challenging one -round match format (seven matches per team) this season with a hunt for victory in the third leg, this Tuesday will definitely pave a brighter path for them to remain on the League stage.

Muhammad Najmi Farizal Jazlan’s single goal in the 45th minute was enough to ensure that Maybank, who had previously won a big 5-0 win over TNB Thunderbolts, returned with full points.

TNB 6 Nurinsafi HT 0

Muhammad Shahril Saabah’s two goals in the first and third quarters gave TNB an absolute victory to create a victory and grab three full points over Nurinsafi HT/Spoets with a big score of 6-0.

TNB, which previously shared one point with UniKL in the first match last Friday, clearly dominated the game with neat and organized movements in every corner that made it difficult for Nurinsafi HT/Sports to resist.

Muhammad Aminuddin Mohd Zain opened the scoring through a penalty corner in the ninth minute before Muhammad Shahril Saabah added two minutes later through a stroke penalty.

Obviously, Nurinsafi HT/Sports failed to curb TNB’s lead which punished their opponents with a goal from Syed Muhammad Syafiq Syed Cholan’s penalty corner in the 25th minute before Shahril Saabah made it 4-0 in the 44th minute.

Muhajir Abdu Rauf and Aminuddin Mohd Zain completed TNB’s big win with goals in the 45th and 56th minutes.

TNB THUNDERBOLTS 2 SABAH 0 –

In another match, Sabah failed to block the progress of TNB Thunderbolts. This is the second defeat in a row for Sabah which previously suffered a big 0-11 defeat at the hands of THT.

TNB Thunderbolts’ first victory also gave them hope to improve their overall position. The young squad had previously lost 0-5 at the hands of Maybank.

Two goals in the first half were quite a relief with Muhammad Amirol Aideed Arshad’s early field goal in the seventh minute as if giving an early sign of the Thunderbolts’ success.

Sabah failed to take advantage of the opportunity in front of the NB Thunderbolts goal which then saw its opponent strengthen its position through a field goal by Shafiq Ikmal Daniel Suzaini in the 24th minute.
