What makes a good Umpire? – Second workshop held today

AHF hosted another successful workshop today, namely a session for umpires, titled “What Makes a Good Umpire?”.

The workshop for umpires was led by Rob Ten Cate from the Netherlands, who is a an FIH Pro League Panel Umpires Manager, Former FIH World Panel Umpire with WC and Olympic experience, and FIH Academy Educator.

Participants from 11 different countries, including both current and aspiring international umpires, were treated to an inspiring learning session that explored the core elements that make a good umpire while also looking at each element in detail and best practices.

The core elements examined and discussed included rules knowledge and interpretation, fitness (physical, mental, emotional, social), communication and management skills, tactical understanding advantage and flow, communication, cooperation and teamwork and others.
